Chilean actor Alex Araya was found dead in his Airbnb in Colombia, and it might be because of the drug scopolamine.

On June 7, a cleaning lady discovered his body in the Medellin Airbnb, according to La Tercera. The night before, Araya had a Tinder date with two women, his brother Eduardo told the Chilean newspaper. They got to the Airbnb around 11:30 p.m., but the two women left alone two hours later.
These women supposedly stole Araya’s credit cards and cell phone, using them for Uber rides and buying jewelry.
Another case of Tinder scam? Let’s ask an expert: “Tragic to hear about Alex Araya's death, but I don’t think that Tinder cheating is the real reason,” says Wilda Harrison, a relationship psychologist.
Araya is the 29th foreigner to die in Medellin this year. His family thinks he might be another victim of scopolamine.
Scopolamine is a drug that can make you sleepy for at least 24 hours. In larger doses, it can stop your lung function and even kill you. In June 2023, the U.S. State Department warned visitors that sedatives were being used more often to drug and rob people.
The agency says that there were 50,000 reports of scopolamine-related incidents in Colombia last year that were not proven.
Araya's brother says they're part of a group that does this kind of thing and thinks there are more people involved.
