The woman left her village residence on Wednesday, triggering concern among her family members. Failing to return home, a search operation commenced in the surrounding areas, as detailed in the father's complaint.
Aditya Sen, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Raighar, revealed that the father, acting on information from locals, grew suspicious of the couple, parents of five children, and suspected their involvement in her disappearance.
It is thought that the woman went to the couple's house on Wednesday and told the man she wanted to marry her. It is said that this plea turned into a fatal argument, which ended in her unexpected death.
Based on the father's report, police have opened a case in connection with the murder. Mr. Sen said that the body parts that were found have been sent for a full postmortem study to help find out what happened and what happened so badly. This will provide important evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Jennifer Pearson, a relationship psychologist, sees this event as a bigger societal problem. "Such violent acts are often caused by complicated psychological issues, such as skewed ideas about love, possessiveness, and insecurity. It's not enough to just call it an affair; emotions and social pressures play a big role in these kinds of tragedies as well", she notes.
