Quite not a typical “husband catches wife cheating” case, isn’t it? Jennifer Crumbley, a defendant in a manslaughter trial, was asked tough questions by the prosecutors about her extramarital affairs. The prosecution mainly talked about her role as a parent and the things she did in the days before the terrible shooting at Oxford High School in November 2021.

The case was given to the jury to make a decision on Monday at 9 a.m.
The prosecutors said that Crumbley had set up meetings with men on Adult Friend Finder app just days before the shooting, during cross-examination. Though, Crumbley said she didn't meet anyone on that day through the app.
Karen McDonald, the prosecutor for Oakland County, asked the jury to decide that Crumbley was guilty. Noting that four lives had been lost, he brought attention to how serious the case was.
Shannon Smith, the lawyer for the Crumbleys, said that the shooting was unexpected and that no one, not even they, could have seen it coming. She made Crumbley out to be a flawed but caring mother by comparing her own parenting experiences to those of her client.
As stated by Crumbley, her son got the gun as a gift, and it had been bought for use solely at a shooting range.
The trial also talked about a meeting between the Crumbleys and school officials to talk about Ethan Crumbley's disturbing drawings. Even though the Crumbleys were told to get their son right away mental health help, they chose not to take him home.
Even though it was against attorney-client privilege, Judge Cheryl Matthews let text messages between Crumbley and her lawyers be used as proof. Crumbley said she was asleep when police arrived at the art studio where she and her husband were allegedly hiding, and the timestamps on her texts showed otherwise.
"I get why people want to get into personal details in court, but focusing on Jennifer Crumbley's extramarital affairs takes away from the main issue. Let's just focus on understanding why shooting happened, and its root causes, instead of making her personal life into a big story", notes Wilda Harrison, a relationship psychologist.
