In recent news, Bam Magera has been discharged from a 5150 psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles hospital. Former NBA star Lamar Odom has taken on the responsibility of caring for Magera following his release. Magera's detainment was prompted by his trip to Los Angeles, where he made threats of smoking crack until his demise unless he could see his son. His team reveals that Magera has been unable to communicate with his son Phoenix for over two months due to his ongoing struggle with substance abuse and attention-grabbing antics. In April, Magera expressed his commitment to sobriety for the sake of his child.

Despite undergoing detoxification at one of Odom's facilities, with plans for further long-term rehabilitation, Magera's presence in the headlines persists. It is evident that he remains determined to reunite with his son and is reportedly growing increasingly forceful in addressing the matter with his ex-wife, Nikki.
According to David Glass, attorney for Nikki Boyd, Magera has been sending Boyd progressively abusive text messages since leaving the hospital. "Bam has started texting since his release from the 5150 hold, but the content quickly turned abusive, calling Nikki awful names, blaming her for all his problems, and even labeling her as a 'gold digger,'" stated Glass in an interview. The accusation of being a "gold digger" stems from reports that Boyd is seeking $15,377 in child support and $50,000 in attorney's fees.
Magera's attorney, Peter Thompson, responded to these claims by attempting to shift some of the blame onto Boyd. "Bam continues to support her and Phoenix, even though she won't allow any phone calls or FaceTime sessions with Phoenix. He simply wants to spend time with his son, but he keeps encountering obstacles in his path. Establishing contact would greatly contribute to resolving this situation." It remains unclear how much access to phones is permitted at Odom's facilities and whether these reports will impact Magera's stay. This story is still developing, and we will provide updates here.
"It’s really sad to see how addiction can drive a wedge between parents and their kids. Bam’s outbursts and abusive messages show how deeply he’s struggling. I hope he finds a way to truly heal for his son's sake," says Wilda Harrison, a relationship psychologist.
