Keable explained that the phenomenon aligns with the "cuffing season," where millions of single Americans seek companionship during the cold winter months. At Ashley Madison, this translates to married individuals seeking to "uncuff" and add some excitement to their winter.
The rankings are based on user residence, with areas boasting significant tourist populations, like Las Vegas, potentially ranking even higher if based on the actual occurrence of infidelity.
Keable expressed mild surprise at the outcomes, emphasizing the universal nature of infidelity. He noted that individuals from across the political spectrum, including more right-leaning individuals, engage with Ashley Madison. Florida's prevalence in the top five cities was noteworthy, but Keable was particularly taken aback by Colorado's representation.
Contrary to expectations, liberal Californian cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco did not feature prominently. Keable attributed this to the normalization of adulterous behavior in California, suggesting that the state's lifestyle had rendered discreet platforms like Ashley Madison less essential.
To defend Ashley Madison's part, Keable, who is used to being criticized, said that the platform just shows how things are going in general. He said that Ashley Madison's removal would not stop people from cheating because it gives them a private way to do it. Keable said that the fact that Ashley Madison exists shows that marriage isn't good enough for a lot of people.
Finally, Keable said that the platform's existence puts light on how common cheating is, and that criticizing it doesn't take into account what really happens behind closed doors.
