In the midst of a bitter divorce, Tyrese is retaliating against his ex-wife for denying that she married him for money.
The Los Angeles native and Samantha Lee parted ways in 2020. Following their separation, Tyrese was ordered to pay $20,000 per month in child support to assist in raising their daughter. This substantial sum led to speculation that she may have married him for his wealth, a notion Tyrese himself echoed.

Lee recently addressed these claims on her Instagram Live, asserting, "People know I make a good amount of money. Why would I do that for money? No. I love this person, and there were just certain things that just didn’t work out."
Tyrese reposted her statement on his now-deleted Instagram post, expressing his disbelief, saying, "I have NO CLUE who this person is... #Gaslighting is the most vile form of manipulation. She's out trying to sell people on shit that nobody is sold on."
He went further to describe her as a "gold digger, gaslighter, narcissist, manipulator."
Adding to his response, Tyrese pointed out the apparent contradiction, stating, "For a woman who doesn’t want money from me, you’ve already hired THREE different LAW FIRMS, trying to crack the prenuptial agreement, you drug this divorce trial out into almost 3 years and now you’re requesting a new trial with a jury."
In an earlier ruling this year, Tyrese was ordered by a judge to pay nearly $650,000 to his ex-wife. The actor had previously criticized the same judge for alleged racism.
In late April, Tyrese attended a court hearing regarding the custody of his four-year-old daughter, Soraya, whom he shares with Lee. He was found in contempt of court for failing to meet the $10,000 monthly child support order issued in August of the previous year.
Tyrese argued in court that the monthly sum was excessive, as Lee reportedly earned a substantial income herself. However, his protest was unsuccessful. Judge Kevin Farmer ordered Tyrese to pay $237,944 in back child support, representing the monthly difference between the ordered amount and what he had been paying, plus interest.
Additionally, Tyrese was ordered to pay $399,000 for Samantha's attorney fees and a $17,000 bill for the special master overseeing the case. If only he knew how to know if your girlfriend is cheating before this situation occurred.
"So sad to see how unresolved emotions and financial disputes can turn a relationship so bitter. It seems like both Tyrese and Samantha are stuck in a cycle of blame and hurt. Divorce can bring out the worst in people, but airing out personal grievances so publicly just adds fuel to the fire," says Wilda Harrison, a relationship psychologist.
