Popular for his open relationship with his wife Danya Gonzalez, Sean O'Malley is at odds with former UFC champion Vitor Belfort.

Following his UFC 292 win, O’Malley made further remarks about his open relationship, suggesting that, as a "king" who financially supports everything, he has the freedom to cheat on his spouse. This comment didn't sit well with many, leading to criticism of the newly crowned UFC champion.
Among those who took offense to O’Malley's comments is Vitor Belfort, a 46-year-old combat sports veteran. According to O’Malley, Belfort privately messaged him to express his displeasure with the open relationship concept.
During a recent episode of his podcast, O’Malley addressed the situation, saying, “You see what’s going viral? A little missed commun-whatever. I’ll say it so people can clip this too, it said I can cheat on my wife because I’m the king and I pay for everything, you see that going viral as f—k? It’s fire. Vitor Belfort messaged me, he said he wants to kick my ass.”
He went on to discuss the variety of relationships people have and how they work differently for everyone. O’Malley and his wife have been together for several years and believe in the open relationship model. However, it seems this perspective doesn't align with Belfort's more traditional views on relationships.
Before starting boxing, Belfort only fought in mixed martial arts once, in 2018 and lost by knockout to Lyoto Machida. With O'Malley's reputation for being a family man, his unusual approach to relationships seems to have upset him. What could be worse for him, than a situation where husband catches wife cheating?
"Watching famous people like him question the way things have always been done is very interesting. Still, these thoughts always make people extremely upset, especially those with more traditional beliefs like Belfort," notes Wilda Harrison.
