Another 'wife catches husband cheating' story, straight out of Reddit! Starting right away with the action: Isabel returns home early to find her husband, Paul, with another woman, Jane. Paul introduces Jane casually, as if nothing's amiss. Isabel is shocked, but Paul dismisses her concerns and orders her to leave for a while. Jane makes fun Isabel, giving her no choice but to leave the room.

Isabel feels trapped as she packs her things from different parts of the house. When she makes up her mind to leave, Paul confronts her and tells her she won't be able to see their kids if she does. For the sake of her children, Isabel reluctantly stays.
Paul and Jane continue their affair openly, mocking Isabel's presence. Even though they tease her, Isabel stays quiet.
Isabel is even more shocked when Paul suggests that Jane move in. When she says no, Paul threatens her to show that he is in control.
Because Paul has connections, Isabel can't find a lawyer, so she looks for evidence to support her case against him. She asks Jane for help and promises her a piece of Paul's money in exchange. Jane, however, betrays her and sides with Paul.
Paul locks Isabel in their house, separating her from her kids and making threats against her.
Isabel is desperate to get away, so she sneaks into Paul's office to look for proof. She finds documents that could be used against her and sends them to her lawyer. Paul finds her, though, and calls the police.
Thanks to the evidence, Paul is arrested, and Isabel is freed. She says she will get her kids back and move on from her bad marriage.
Doesn't it sound like too much? Yes, those Reddit posts aren't about anything else. But what do psychologists think about this case? We talked to Wilda Harrison!
"I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Isabel's reaction to Paul's behavior might be based on deeper psychological factors. It seems like she should leave, but she might not want to because of complicated emotional issues like fear and low self-esteem," she notes.
