So, Brittany Cartwright has officially filed for divorce from Jax Taylor. Looks like Brittany had enough, huh? Let's find out!
According to court docs from USA TODAY, she filed in Los Angeles Superior Court to end things with Jax, who’s actually named Jason Michael Cauchi.
A rep for them isn’t saying anything, but here’s the scoop: Brittany, who’s 35, is asking for legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Cruz, with Jax getting visitation rights. She’s citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split and doesn’t want either of them to get spousal support.
Brittany wants the judge to rule that any property or assets she got by gift or inheritance, or anything acquired before or after the separation, should be hers. She also mentioned that there will be a detailed list of belongings to split up later.
She first mentioned their separation on their podcast, "When Reality Hits," in February, which was a month after the separation date listed in her court filing, January 24. Brittany said she moved out for her mental health and that it’s been a tough year for her. She’s focusing on being a great mom to Cruz and taking things one day at a time.
This news came out just before their new show, "The Valley," a spin-off from "Vanderpump Rules," premiered. The cast includes Kristen Doute, Luke Broderick, Danny and Nia Booko, Janet and Jason Caperna, and Jesse and Michelle Lally.
"Well, breakups are never easy, especially with a kid in the mix. Brittany seems to be putting her mental health and her son first, which is really admirable," says Wilda Harrison, a relationship coach.
