Lisa Cash, an actress featured in Friends' season 5 told a fun fact about the show's history. At first, Chandler Bing, played by Matthew Perry, was supposed to cheat on Monica Geller, played by Courteney Cox. The storyline was called "The One Where Chandler Cheated."

Cash explained that the scene involved an argument between Chandler and Monica in Las Vegas, where Chandler, in frustration, heads to a hotel room. Cash, playing a hotel worker, engages in conversation with Chandler, leading to an affair.
Despite rehearsing the scene, the plot took an unexpected turn. Perry, a key figure in the show, voiced his concerns a day before the live audience shoot. Cash shared, “I was told that [he] went into the writers and said the audience would never forgive him for cheating on Monica, which he was probably right.” Perry's intervention potentially altered the show's trajectory.
Creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane did not immediately respond to inquiries about the incident and whether the storyline underwent modifications.
Following the change, Cash was still part of the same episode, but as a flight attendant on Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) and Ross Geller’s (David Schwimmer) flight. Reflecting on working with Perry, she described the experience as "neat" and highlighted his likability and welcoming nature.
Perry's sudden demise on October 28 at 54 shocked fans. The Friends cast, in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, expressed profound grief, emphasizing the family bond they shared. Friends creators and executive producer Kevin Bright also conveyed deep sorrow, praising Perry's brilliance and character.
Perry was laid to rest on November 3 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, attended by all five Friends co-stars. The somber occasion marked the end of an era, a week after the beloved actor's passing.
However, one should always remember this one thing, that Wilda Harrison warned us about: "Having a beloved character like Chandler cheat on his or her partner could have spread negative ideas about relationships. Perry's choice was probably a reflection of how society feels about trust and loyalty in relationships, which leads to healthier relationship dynamics."
