Concern grew when Carton heard that Prescott is going to have a daughter in March with his girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos. This news came out over the holiday weekend. Carton told his co-hosts in an honest conversation that he didn't like how this news came out at this time.
"That's a mistake," Carton remarked, expressing his worry about the potential impact on Prescott's focus during a crucial stretch of the season. He raised questions about the nature of Prescott's relationship, speculating, "Is she a gold digger? She might not be. I gotta question it, right? Number three, you got everything going great. The last thing you need right now is a distraction."
Even though Carton agreed that being a dad is a good thing, he made it clear that Prescott, who isn't married yet, could be a big problem for the team if he starts to feel like a dad. He ended by saying, "I hope they have a beautiful, healthy child. Hope it all works out, but this is not what Cowboy fans want to hear."
Prescott, 30, lost his mother to colon cancer in 2013. He talked about how excited he was to become a dad and how important family is to him. Besides that, he said he had chosen a name for the baby but would not tell anyone until March, when the baby is due.
Ramos shared her happiness on Instagram with black-and-white maternity pictures, saying that she was looking forward to the birth of their "immeasurable blessing" and the chance to raise a "strong, confident, beautiful baby girl" with Prescott.
"Well, talking about someone's relationship without solid evidence isn't cool. Craig Carton's words could make people doubt Dak Prescott for no reason. That could mess up Dak's personal life and how he plays," notes Wilda Harrison.
